To anyone’s surprise, Dallas Mavericks choose Cooper Flag Ranked No. 1 in the 2025 NBA Draft.

While Flag spent some time primarily at the traditional forward position during Duke’s sole season, the team’s roster was also listed as a defender. Former Mavericks and current coach Jason Kidd admitted he took a slight difference in the player’s position.
“I don’t look at this position,” Kidd said in a press conference.

Flag is expected to debut in the NBA Summer League on July 10 Los Angeles Lakers. Kidd revealed that he wanted to see Flagg in action at the point guard position.

Kidd expressed excitement for Flag in the summer league in Las Vegas. “I’m so happy to give him a match against the Lakers and see what happens. Let’s start the Bat right away,” said the Mavericks head coach.
