
Meta forms a new team within its Division on Reality Labs to build robots that can help with physical tasks, Bloomberg reported. The team will be responsible for developing humanoid robotic hardware, perhaps including hardware that can perform homework.
The new Robotic group of Meta, which will be led by Marc Whitten, the former general manager of the driver’s car, will also create robot programs and AI, according to Bloomberg’s reporting. Whitten also had strokes at Amazon, Microsoft, and Sonos, According to his LinkedIn -Profile.
To be clear, Meta’s plan is not to build a meta-marked robot-at least not initially. Rather, meta -executives including CTO Andrew Bosworth thinks the company has a chance to build hardware for the rest of the robotic market, according to Bloomberg -similar to what Google accomplished with its Android operating system in the smart sector.
Bloomberg reports that Meta has also entered into discussions with robot companies, including Unitree Robotics and Figure AI, to eventually collaborate on prototypes.
