The so-called sexual relationship took place in 2023, when Sanroman was Oakside Preparatory Academya charter school located in the town of Watford, about 30 miles from downtown Detroit.
Sanroman has not been arraigned as of Monday morning, but her photos were posted by representatives in Oakland County.

“The defendants are accused of using their power to exploit minors,” said Oakland County Attorney Karen McDonald. “These allegations represent an ultimate breach of trust in the educator by parents and the community.”
She added: “As a former teacher, I appreciate the teachers who contacted the police to protect other students from further exploitation.”
McDonald’s said a 16-year-old could agree, but that was not the case when in a romantic relationship with a teacher.
“This is because we need to make schools the safest place for kids, right? Be free from gun violence, beatings, and sexual assaults,” McDonald’s said. “Schools should be where your kids feel safe.”
If convicted, Sanroman could face up to 15 years in prison.

School officials said the allegations were disturbing and they acted immediately upon learning of the allegations.
“We strive to provide a safe and supportive learning environment for students entrusted to our care. Their safety and well-being remains our top priority,” the school said in a statement to Fox 2.
The Oakside Prep Academy is part of the National Heritage Academy system, which has its “ethical focus” courses that help students “distinguish” and appreciate the difference between right and wrong,” the school’s website says.
“Our K-12 courses incorporate strong moral priorities, including perseverance, respect, compassion, and courage into daily activities,” the website reads. “Every month, students focus on another aspect of moral development, building understanding from introductions to connections, reflections, and applications. This approach promotes self-awareness, empathy, and resilience, thus helping them thrive in the nurturing school community throughout the K-12 journey.”
