Within the first few minutes of the 2026 Resort 2026 preview, Natasha Zinko admitted she wasn’t absolutely, fulfilling, fond of fashion’s mid-season, winning the rare faux PA. (Most other designers shared opinions but rarely expressed.) This is an unusual comment, not just because it’s refreshing, but because this collection is Zinko’s best yet: much more than anti-Smith fantasy than anti-Smith fantasy (if you can believe they are still the current political style fantasy), she used to be fantasy cutlery, she used to be outside. It is precisely because of the place of relative anger or creative skepticism that she revolves around the Quoledian life of a flat American community in a completely relevant narrative.
“I’m thinking about ‘as the last habit’ idiom,” the designer said. “But that old motto might also be represented in a more literal way, as people try to take a break for the last ditch.” She imagines starting there and dressing up a bunch of stereotypical tanned vacationers. There is a local used car salesman – imitated by her brand managing director, wearing sleeves rolled up to reveal the sleeves, revealing the second set of original cuffs below. Sloped zippered jeans and a sheer t-shirt with his favorite player’s name and number; and a mechanic inspired by Zinko’s father, wearing an inside-out uniform of acid-treated, upgraded cargo pants. Then there was a bodybuilder in a vest, pleated jersey sweat, then a charming cougar in a twisted leather body dress and trend platform thong, and her teenage daughter in a bubble skirt cut from striped polo polo shirt fabric.
As for actually, is this the last collection of resorts for Zinko? OK, hope not. She shrugged and said, “If I feel it, I do it.” Just like the leather shopper this season is Deadpan, the brand’s replica receipts are nailed; the daily cotton towels are turned into spacious leather flap bags (gius for hiding valuables on the beach) and strapless, just-issued cylindrical skirts. Even with the long legs of trousers, sleeveless mini dresses and upside-down skirts (the fixation style that has been fixed to surgery for the past few seasons, the collection seems a bit unhappy and consciously lowered. “It’s easy,” the designer concluded. “The message is: You’ve rolled out of the bed and your hair is messy, but you want to enjoy everything left in the sun. Everything is getting easier here.” Well. Effortless or low drink? She said, “Back to me.”
