Netflix and NASA announced A new partnership Monday, which will bring live space programming to the Streamer later this summer.
Subscribers will be able to watch live streams from rocket launches, astronaut space travel and live views of the land of the International Space Station, as well as additional content from NASA+The Space Agency’s advertising streaming program, which launched in 2023.
Until recently, most of Netflix’s live content was produced in a house or presented as exclusive live events, so a partnership with NASA is a sign that Netflix is trying to broaden its live programming.
Netflix gradually introduced live television content to members, focusing primarily on Stand comedy, awards and special events. It also puts strong emphasis on sports, including WWE and a celebrity golf tournament. The most recent partnership was with Tf1Who gave subscribers in France access to live sporting events, drama series and game shows, like “The Voice.”
This is not NASA’s first time to collaborate with streaming service, as it aims to engage spatial enthusiasts through popular platforms. In May, the Space Agency partnered with Prime Video launch a live fast channel. NASA also supports a strong presence on YouTube, and also has NASA+ content for free on its Website.
