So why does Noem build a “soft-face” facility in an ecologically fragile mosquito pit 45 miles from downtown Miami? Why was she trying to give ICE’s institutional partners decades of experience to accompany states that desperately need political Brownie’s perspective?

If temporary installment space is really needed, there are already tools available: as of mid-2023, an estimated 247,000 open beds nationwide can close the gap at scale – without wasting permanent funds to compensate for the corrupt, short-lived camps built for headlines.

Instead, Noem is laying the red carpet for future abuse. These hastily assembled facilities, composed of non-traditional suppliers and unscrupulous state contractors, have matured with failure, mismanagement and corruption. The background of all this? Noem has been brave enough to brag about the “Secure Third Country Agreement” in Central America, which, according to the state itself, do not exist. If she really believes the problem ends in four years, then she has failed the boss and the American people.

What we need is not the secretary’s obsession with optics. We need a builder. Planner. Some believe that detention infrastructure is not the background of a news journey, but the steel ridge of long-term expiration of mass deportation efforts.
This is not South Dakota. yes Department of Homeland Security. And the job doesn’t seem difficult. It’s tough – quiet, permanent and large.
