The New York Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) announced that the Collins Corrections facility in Erie County was locked after the incident Wednesday morning. According to the Albany Union.
New York State Correctional Officer and union representatives from the Police Mercy Association told the media that the incident occurred around 1 a.m. when inmates took over three dormitories and evacuated staff.

Other prisoners in the dormitory were reportedly excited and tried to check on prisoners who used the phone when the dispute occurred.
The facility staff and supervisors successfully measured this situation, The prisoners returned to their cube.
Due to various potential threats, the media said that the staff left the three dormitories without any incidents and did not take hostages.

Gold told the media, “Collins has been in short supply and screams for help.”

“They have been asking people to do triple shifts because they don’t have enough staff,” Gold added. “My thoughts and prayers are with everyone now, including the certificate team and the crisis team.”
