NFT platform Opensea makes acquisition

Trade platform Opensea owns Gatheredthe company behind Rally Wallet continues to trade tokens.

The terms of the acquisition have not been made public.

Nadav Hollander, the chief technology officer of Opensea, will hand over the role to Raliley CEO Chris Maddern, according to a press release shared with Coindesk. Rally co-founder Christine Hall will also join Opensea as the company’s chief of staff.

Opensea will use the acquisition to strengthen its trading platform, which has been running on 17 blockchains Live broadcast to the public in May.

“The rally team shared our vision for a more accessible and enjoyable trading experience for everyone,” said Devin Finzer, co-founder and CEO of Opensea. “We are excited to bring their passion and expertise to Opensea as we build the best places to discover, trade and create OnChain, while mobile devices are at the forefront.”

Rally operates primarily as a crypto wallet and has recently dabbled in mobile applications that combine self-custody with social traits and multiple currencies.

Opensea plans to integrate Rally’s wallet technology and mobile-first design into the platform as it moves towards becoming a mature trading platform.

“Add to Opensea is the natural next step in the rally mission,” said Opensea’s CTO Chris Maddern. “Together, we can accelerate Web3 adoption by making it easier, safer, and more social, no matter you’re on the go.”

No further details were disclosed Opensea’s local operating system tokenthis was announced in February.
