A North Carolina community is mourning the loss of a firefighter who died while snorkeling Vacations in Turkish and Caicos and his family.
His girlfriend, Sonya Moore, told him that Jaywon Lyons died earlier this month on a snorkeling trip on the island. Greenville Daily Reflector.
“I rushed over and literally I couldn’t even stand up,” Moore told The Outlet. “I asked my parents to take my son, I was just with him. We tried to stabilize him. He stabilized for a while.”
Authorities transported the Lyons to local hospitals, and Moore tried to arrange an ICU flight to the United States.

“In the hospital, it got worse,” Moore told the reflexologist.

“We are sorry to report our brother, Red Oak fireman Jay Lyons, died in a tragic accident today,” the department said in a June 6 Facebook post. “Jay loved it here on Red Oak and he made a lasting impression on everyone.”
“He is an optimistic person,” said the Red Oak Community FD.

Gofundme, a firefighter named Jaywon’s family continues to help, said Lyon’s body returned to North Carolina on June 23.
Lyon has two daughters, 3 and 1 year old.
