The school made headlines as its main performance on the championship tournament was led by junior pitcher Marissa Rothenberger, who was a transgender athlete on the team.

In response to Gaines’ criticism of the post, Beals posted a message saying Gaines’s position on trans athletes is “a real disease.” She even launched a personal attack in Gaines.
“You’re really sick, all of these campaigns are because you lost a game. The loser is straightforward,” Beals said. NCAA champion.

“You should make the trans community excited and maybe find a way to make sports inclusive or create new ways to feel safe in sports. Maybe in all sports it’s a trans category!! But… you bully them… you bully them… one thing is certain that no one is safe in sports!!!”
The post spread on social media, with bile added another post: “Bullying one’s body, ironically men.”
But bile is the most decorated gymnast in history – a feat she achieved at the Paris Olympics, with comments on social media facing fierce opposition.

Many on social media also noted that Biles calls for open categories in all sports.
In 2022, international swimming agency World Aquatics updated its eligibility policy to effectively ban trans athletes from participating in women’s activities. The following year, the organization launched and made its debut at the World Water Sports World Cup in Berlin.

The organization later confirmed that after registration, no entries were received for the open category.
Bile is 11 times Olympic medal. She has 30 world championship medals, including a record 23 gold medals. She did not respond on social media after the initial post against Gaines.
