“Our plane crashed. It was upside down.”
These are the words of John Nelson, a passenger on a Delta Air Lines flight, who had just collapsed and flipped when landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport.

18 passengers were injured. Local paramedics said three people — a child, a man in his 60s and a woman in his 40s — were seriously injured, but officials said they did not know anyone was injured.
“Most people seem to be OK. We’re all out of the car,” Mr Nelson said in a video posted on Facebook shortly after the crash.
Later, he told CNN that there were no unusual signs before landing.
“We slipped on the side, then flipped over, then flipped over,” he said, adding: “There is a big fireball on the left side of the plane.”
Passengers were collapsed in their seats.
“We’re upside down like bats,” Peter Koukov, who was also on the plane, told CNN.
Mr. Nelson said he was able to untie his own ground.
“Some people are a little unresolved and need some help … while others can get off on their own,” he said.
Video footage shared on social media shows people climbing out of a capsized plane and firefighters spray it with foam.
Airport staff saw passengers helping on the plane, and some fled the plane’s entrance.
Even though the plane flipped on the runway, Diane Perry said she learned of the crash when her family lined up to check her luggage.
“Ironically, we were at the airport and didn’t know there was a crash outside,” she told the BBC.
The cause of the crash is not yet known. Both runways will continue to be closed for several days for investigation and were told passengers are expecting some delays.
Mr. Nelson is still dealing with what just happened, telling CNN that he is “tough, nervous, shaky”.
“It’s amazing that we’re still here.”
