The person suspected of shooting one Police near the headquarters of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Atlanta, GAPatrick Joseph White, appointed Friday as 30.
White, 30, of Kennesaw, Georgia, allegedly killed DeKalb County Police Department official David Rose, 33, shortly after 5 p.m., the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) said in the latest news on Saturday.
The fatal incident occurred when White opened fire in front of the CDC campus, released a pile of bullets and pierced multiple windows.
GBI images released on Saturday showed dozens of shells scattered on the sidewalk.

Police shot and killed near CDC headquarters at Emory University in Atlanta
Director Susan Monarez said in an article on X that at least four CDC buildings were hit. The images shared by employees show multiple agent buildings with bullet-like windows, highlighting the breadth of damage at the locations where thousands of scientists and employees are engaged in research on key diseases.
When police responded to the location, they found Rose was seriously injured and heard other gunshots from nearby CVS pharmacies. Rose was taken to Emory University Hospital on Clifton Road, where he died of injuries.
The officer entered a nearby pharmacy and found the shooter on the second floor, with at least one gunshot wound. Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum said it was not clear whether the wound was caused by police gunfire or caused by itself.
The motive for the shooting is not yet known.
Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens described him as “a well-known person who might be interested in something” without naming White Friday Night.
The shooting occurred on Clifton Road. Near the Emory University campus, the campus also has day care for more than 90 nursing children. None of them were hurt.

Rose joined the DeKalb County Police Department in September 2024 and graduated from Police Academy in March and quickly gained a reputation for dedication and professionalism, the department said in a statement. He used to serve as the Marine Corps in Afghanistan.

Interim Police Chief Greg Padrick said Ross is committed to serving the community.

“Currently, we ask the community to pray for his family, his friends, his loved ones and the entire family of the DeKalb County Police Department,” he said in a statement Friday.
Republican Gov. Brian Kemp He said his family “mothered today’s miserable loss of David Ross.”
Kemp wrote on X: “His service and memory will not be forgotten by a state of gratitude, and his loved ones and @dekalbcountypd’s companions will keep a painful and painful day in our hearts and prayers.”
