Paul Simon was forced to cancel a series of concerts Saturday after being injured.

Simon, 83, will undergo minor surgery in the “next days,” according to an article on his Instagram account.
“Sadly, Paul Simon Two performances at the Philadelphia Conservatory must be cancelled tonight on June 28 and tomorrow on June 29, 29,” Simon shared online.

“Unfortunately, we have to cancel these shows at the moment because we don’t have the ability to reschedule them. However, after this small surgical procedure scheduled for the next few days, we are full of hope that Paul will be able to complete the tour and hope to return to those dates.”

It is unclear when Simon will reschedule the concert and encourages concertgoers to contact their local ticket provider for a full refund.

The musician’s Diamond on Soles announced his “Quiet Celebration” tour in February, which coincides with his “Seven Psalms” album. The tour started in April and was scheduled to end in Seattle in August.

“The evolution of this extraordinary artist continues to unfold,” the press release at the time said. “Simon chose to perform in private venues where it is best considering the severe hearing loss he suffered in the past few years.”

In May 2023, Simon realized that most of the hearings in the left ear disappeared when he created the album.
“Suddenly, I lost most of the hearing in my left ear and no one explained it. So it became even harder,” Simon told the Times.
“My reaction to it was frustration and annoyance; not total anger yet because I think it will pass, it will repair itself.”
In 2018, Simon announced that he was retire. “I feel the damage to the fun of playing away from my wife and family’s travel and time,” he wrote in a social media post, adding, “It feels a little uneasy, exciting, and a little relieved.”

His 30-year-old wife, Edie Brickell, sang a duet with him in the final part of “The Seven Psalms” which included the lyrics, “Paradise is beautiful / It’s almost like home / child, ready / it’s time to go home.”
The couple shared three children: Adrian Edward, Lulu and Gabriel Elijah.

Simon used to marry the late Carrie Fisher. The couple met in the late 1970s but did not get married until August 1983. They divorced less than a year later in July 1984.
