Boxer Chris Eubank Jr and Connor Benn Go to PIers Morgan Uncensored In the studio before the April battle. But despite the intense interviews that have to be safely disassembled, Ben revealed that he wanted to see Eubank Jr’s estranged father in the corner of his rival.

When asked what news about his boxing legendary father, Eubank Jr said: “I’m here. I’m preparing for the biggest battle of my life. If you want to be by my father next to me like he’s next to him, we can do it together. If not, there’s no sadness, I’ll get the job done for you, don’t worry… He’s my old man. It doesn’t matter if I didn’t talk to him until the day I died. I’ll always love him. He taught me everything… He doesn’t want this struggle to move on as far as I know.”
Telling Piers that he had been alienated from his father for “a few years”, he went on to explain how the Rift began. He told the special edition Piers Morgan Uncensored: “It’s reached the stage where I need to go completely out of the shadow. It’s a big shadow…I realize I have to separate myself from this huge character next to me. He’s different, and my father kind of let him do his own thing and kind of jump in, sink or swim. My old man is always, always next to me. I go into a stage and decide that I need to go my own path. He’s not happy with the decision. That’s where it starts. Then, your situation is with my brother passing away, which has a lot to him and affecting us all…Mental health is a real thing. This event, coupled with the fact that we haven’t seen the eyes, has destroyed most of the relationship, but unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to have recovered.”
Despite his voice for a “idiot” during a tough studio clash, Benn has a close relationship with his father, Nigel Benn, who admits he wants to meet Eubank SR in the fight.
He said: “My dad loves me anyway. My dad is proud of me and my relationship with my dad is beyond boxing anyway. It’s funny because my dad is not really, my dad doesn’t really care about my career. My dad cares more about me as a man and my happiness…my dad is my hero.”
Benn added: “It’s the fact that your father doesn’t like you, otherwise he’ll be here…but what I want to say to you is, it’s nice to see your father in your corner. I’m fine because for the moment, he thinks I’ll kick you out. Again, it’s the fact. I’m not saying it’s funny, that’s what your father believes, it’s there.
“But I really, again, you might think I’m ironic. Because of our fathers, we’re where we are. They laid the foundation. We’re like our dads. We’re the double and carbon replica of dads. It’s great to see your dads in your corner and you can tinker with that relationship, no matter what relationship you have between you, it’s nice to see, I mean, I mean, it’s my heart, not ironic. I mean I mean.
“It’s hard to believe…I have to be careful, I don’t want you to attract me here,” Jr Eubank said.
