A policeman died, allegedly killed by the gunman, was killed in a shooting near the CDC campus on Friday afternoon AtlantaAs nearby Emory University told the student shelter and activated its emergency protocol.
The DeKalb County Police Department identified the killed officials as 33-year-old David Rose, the husband and father of three children, including one.
Just before 5 p.m., an unidentified man opened fire in front of the CDC campus and shot at the CDC building, according to Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum.
Schierbaum said responding to an arrival of a DeKalb County sheriff was found seriously injured at the scene. When they moved in, they heard other gunfires from the nearby CVS pharmacy.

The officer entered the store and found a shooter on the second floor, with at least one gunshot wound. The gunman’s identity has not been released and was later pronounced dead. Schierbaum said it was not clear whether the wound was from authorities or caused by itself.
Officials said an order to arrange a shelter was arranged around 6:30 p.m., but 92 children are still sheltering in daycare on the CDC campus.
“I want to commend law enforcement officers across the region,” Schierbaum said. “When this community needs them, no one gets out of danger. Every official from multiple regions responded and took immediate action to end the threat.”

Susan Monarez, director of the CDC, said the agency was “heartbroken” at the deadly event on Friday.
“A brave local law enforcement officer gave his life and another person was injured after another gunman opened fire on at least four CDC buildings,” she said in a statement. “Dikalb County Police, CDC Safety and Emory University responded immediately and decisively to help prevent further damage to our staff and communities.”
She said the CDC is conducting investigations with local, state and federal authorities.
A sergeant allegedly arrested was injured at least Wednesday Fort Stewart, near Savannah, Georgia.
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp thanked X for his swift action.
“Twice this week, insane criminals target innocent Georgians. Each time, the brave first responders are anxious to impose the danger of uniformed shooters and saving lives, which reminds us of their importance.”
“Marty, the girls and I thank everyone who answered the phone and protected their Georgians,” he added. “We ask you to join us and pray with those who were hurt near the CDC Center tonight.”

One died and one was injured in a shooting at the University of New Mexico campus.
Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens said the number of mass shootings nationwide in recent years.
“Mass shootings, positive shooting scenarios should not be the norm,” Dickens said. “We have many people in this country who can use high-power weapons. For those with high-power weapons that may face mental challenges, or those with high-power weapons, they get angry when they choose to use them in a way that damages multiple people.”
He added: “We have to end this in our society.”

Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr wrote in an X post that he was “feared” by violent attacks.
“We are shocked by the news at Emory University and pray for the safety of the entire campus community,” Carl wrote in a post. “We are always ready to assist our law enforcement partners to achieve everything they may need.”
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) will lead the investigation. The FBI Atlanta said it would help.
