“It just reminds you, shows you – you never know, something (happens) and you might not recover,” he added.
Anne said the accident and subsequent hospitalization reminded her to “take each day as it comes.”
At the time, the palace said Anne’s hospitalization was a “precautionary measure for observation” and added that she “is expected to make a full and speedy recovery.”
The accident comes in a difficult year for the royal family, as Anne’s brother, King Charles IIIand Princess Kate Middleton dealing with individual cancer diagnoses.
Middleton announced in January that he is in remissionwhile Charles is expected to maintain a full schedule of engagements this year.
Anne was always named The “Royal Hard Work” by the British Press over the years. By 2024, she had completed 217 engagements – the most of any royal – Daily Mail reported. Charles came in second place with 186 engagements, per outlet.
When asked about the possibility of retirement, Anne told the press association that “it is not an option.”
“I don’t think I have a retirement program in this particular life,” he said. “It’s never written, no. It’s never an option, no, I’m not like that.”
