Reba Mcentire Shared a close connection with her former stepson Brandon Blackstock, who died at the age of 48 this week after a private fight with cancer this week.
The 70-year-old country star had previously married the late talent manager’s father Narvel Blackstock, who shared with her son Shelby, 35, from 1989 to 2015. In addition to Brandon, Narvel Spare Daughters Chassidy and Shawna are with ex-wife Elisa Gayle Ritter.
Despite her divorce from Narvel, Mcentire had previously explained that she would always consider his family.
“It seems that Brandon has always been my son. Even though he is my stepson, I still love him, just like he is my total number – my blood.” The three-time Grammy Award winner said in an interview with Entertainment tonight in 2021.

When she married Narvel, McEntire shared how she saw his children as their flesh and blood.
“I don’t think about Brandon, Chassidy and Shawna Stepchildren,” the singer said guide In 2010. “I ask for it all.”
In X (formerly Twitter) 2012 post, McEntire wrote: “I am proud of all the kids. Shawna, Brandon, Chassidy and Shelby! Love them!!!”
McEntire also has close ties with Blackstock’s ex-wife. Kelly Clarkson, 43. These two female singers are long-time friends and have performed several duets over the years. They also worked together on the reality singing competition show “The Voice”.

Clarkson and Blackstock ended in 2013, and he became her manager in 2017. Two welcome daughters, Rose Rose and 8-year-old Remington Alexander, before Clarkson filed for divorce in June 2020.
The stimulating split of the previous couple played a role in the public eye and was finally completed in March 2022.
In an interview with Extra in 2021, McEntire shared her support for both Hastoke and Clarkson In the midst of divorce.
“You know, I love them both. Brandon is my step-son and Kelly is my good friend. … I work hard for both of them. I hope they are happy, healthy, and work hard.
“I pray that everyone will encourage them because they need it now, and they both do it. I love them with all my heart.”

Before Blackstock’s death, McEntire spent some time with him during a family outing in Rodeo.
On March 5, Shelby shared photos of McCann Island and Hastoke and other members of her family at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. McEntire also performed at the event.
In the snapshot, these three join with McKentel’s boyfriend Rex Linn, Shelby’s wife Marissa Blackstock and Blackstock’s three children, including his eldest daughter Savannah, 23, and River and Rose. Blackstock shares Savannah and son Seth with his ex-wife Melissa Ashworth. Savannah is also accompanied by her husband Quentin Lee and their son.

Blackstock wore a denim jacket, blue jeans and flannel shirt, and a black cowboy hat posing with his family and smiled in several photos.
“Family time, @rodeohouston and the Corn Dogs,” Shelby wrote. “We exploded in Houston @rissablackstock to experience her first rodeo and be able to spend precious time with family! Mom’s concert is the icing on the cake!”
Blackstock’s family emotionally announced his death Thursday.
“We share with great sadness the news of Brandon Blackstock’s death,” the statement said. “Brandon has bravely fought cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by his family. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the privacy of the family during this very difficult time.”

While Mcentire has not spoken about Blackstock’s death, Shelby paid tribute to his half-brother on Friday.

Shelby wrote as she sat in a brown horse in the paddock: “Word cannot begin to capture the huge losses our family has suffered. Yesterday, we lost a brother, father, grandfather and son.”
“Brendan Blackstock Shelby added that he is an irreplaceable part of our family – a fun, bright and fulfilling life.

“In every precious moment we share, there are many more we can never get together, but I know you are still there,” he added. “I feel your presence every time I hunt, every flight, and every day of life.”
