“Imagine the astronauts get angry at the signs of stealing,” the former infielder said.
Of course, the Astronauts are probably the architects of the biggest sign-theft scandal in baseball history, where they will pound the trash cans to indicate the upcoming tone. It helped them participate in the 2017 World Series and has been rumor and speculation about further off-topics. Using technology to steal signs is illegal.
“But guess what, it’s part of the game when you can see the grip in the gloves,” Middlebrooks added.

Ironically, the Red Sox itself was accused of stealing the logo in 2018, a year they won the Fall Classic, but it was revealed that the incident “has more scope and impact than the previous year” than it was in the previous year, and most clubs were not aware of misconduct.
Alex Cora was the Astros substitute coach in 2017 before becoming Sox manager in the 2018 season. He was suspended for the 2020 season due to his role in the Astros scandal, but is back for the following season.
