Reddit to Turn Positive Posts Into Ads for Brands

The next time you recommend a product or service to someone in a conversation in Reddit, it may become advertising for the company. New function announced Through the social media at the Cannes Lions’ International Creativity Festival will allow brands to take positive comments posted on Reddit and display them right under advertisements on the platform.

The FeatureCalled Reddit Community Intelligence, will integrate conversations taking place in Reddit in the marketing efforts of a company. For example, an advertisement for lucid engines could pull popular threads from users who spoke their experience with the company’s cars. These posts are commissioned by AI and displayed directly under the company’s advertisement site. Reddit claims that trials of the function have caused 19% higher click rate than standard ads.

Who … that’s great, I guess if you are an advertiser. If you are a user, you see that ads occupy a little more screen space. And you may see your posts and conversations transformed into free advertising for a company. Presumably, if you talk positively about brand, you may not care if you see this transformed into a marketing campaign. Social evidence Certainly there is no new concept of marketing and is a cheap and easy way to establish credibility by striking the feedback of users. Of course, it doesn’t seem that Reddit will give a cut of those conversions to the editors who first made the posts, although it could be argued that their content is at least partially causing more sales.

During a conversation with Axios on Monday, Reddit’s Director General Steve Huffman made the case that the main thing only uses what is already naturally happening in Reddit. “Half of the conversations about Reddit are essentially business,” he said. “It results in every hobby, within every passion, in all these travel decisions, you actually decide what to buy later.” A Recent article of Marketing emphasized that more and more users are looking for Reddit to help decisions, finding it more human and authentic than alternatives like Google Search results. So Reddit takes into account the trend.

This is Reddit’s latest in massive monetary effort, which would really like to prove that it has a reliable model for growth and income now that it is a publicly exchanged company. At the beginning of the year, the company’s general manager spoke Paywall Function for Subreddits That would lock some exclusive content behind a subscription model, which Reddit would allegedly skim a percentage of the top to facilitate the transaction.
