Richardson Hitchins said he would not be interested in defeating champion Brian Norman Jr. on November 22, so if he wins against Haney, he wouldn’t be elevated to 147.
Lopez fights: money talk
Another target on Hitchens’s two-double roster is Teofimo Lopez, which doesn’t require him to be welterweight last time. What he needs is Turki Alalshikh showing interest in fighting. Teo won’t fight Richardson (20-0, 8 KOS) unless he pays that kind of money for the title he won against Arnold Barboza Jr. on May 2. Even then, it’s unclear whether he’ll fight him.
Hitchens will beat George Kambosos Jr. in New York City on June 14, he thinks the fight has brought him into the world stage. However, fans quickly forget about it because it is a low-level opponent and therefore is considered junk food entertainment. Making Hitchins popular is not just defeating Kambosos Jr., but he is reluctant to risk being a big name. If he is, he is willing to fight Norman Jr., and he is not.

Richardson needs to be more realistic. If he raises to 147, the only fighter he may get is WBO champion Brian Norman Jr. or Shakhram Giyasov. In other words, he won’t desire fighter jets because he might lose. Haney, Ryan Garcia and Teofimo wouldn’t fight him because his style is difficult and he’s not popular.
Hitchens said of the fight between him and Devin: “We really don’t like each other. We look around. That’s how much we don’t like each other. It’s going to be a huge fight for boxing.”
