If Kambosos wins in his March 22 match against Daud Yordan, Hitchins hopes to fight him in New York this summer. This battle could become a potential big card sometime in June. Kambosos is the one who beat Teofimo Lopez (21-1, 13 KO) and was able to beat him, which shows that he deserves a unified game with Teo.
Hitchens wants to face Teofimo later this year, waiting for future events to successfully beat Cambossos in the summer, and Teofimo against Arnold Barboza Jr. “I think Richardson Hitchins and Teofimo are the battles Turki Alalshikh wants if Teofimo wins. It’s a big fight. Hope we can unify. I’m going to get the job done. Hope he can get the job done, we’ll unify.” said when asked about potential matches. With Turki’s support, if both fighters succeed, the fight should be accomplished.
Now that he is a champion, Hitchins is looking to top the 140-pound division and eventually be at the top of the sport. He is looking for the biggest fight possible and hopes to fight against the famous people in the sport. When asked about his future plans, Hitchens said: “Maybe it’s another unification battle, or in the battle of 147, Ryan Garcia – Devin Haney, it doesn’t matter.” Hitchens intends to unify at 140 and knows that jumping to 147 is inevitable. Facing a designated opponent will allow him to win superstars and win against them and place him among the elites in the sport.
The ultra-lightweight division is one of the most exciting divisions in the sport as there were many title changes last year and there were multiple interest. Subriel Matias, Rolly Romero, Isaac Cruz, Liam Paro and Jose Valenzuela have all suffered the championship losses over the past year, all of which are top contenders looking to regain the championship glory. Hitchens wants to unify the department and a potential showdown with any current champions will be very useful for the sport.
