Located in a dense downtown area of Ho Chi Minh City, Cloud House is a boutique residential project, Room + Design and Construction. The first thing to pay attention to this institution is its unique design. The building’s surroundings include different townhouses of height and scales. Its unique appearance is a creative and functional response to the ever-increasing cost of housing in cities.
To improve the environmental performance of the building, the design combines various circular openings on its facade and roof with cloud-like shapes to echo its name. These elements support natural ventilation throughout the structure, allowing for plenty of sunlight in the living space.
The design is based on three main strategies, including a loft-style private suite, a multi-functional public space, and the incorporation of natural elements into its buildings. Cloud House includes six loft-style suites and two standard studios. In each loft unit, a raised platform is located above the entrance and bathroom area. The design optimizes the landing height of 3.5 meters to increase available space. Neutral materials and palettes are used throughout the process. Smart design and multi-functional furniture such as seats, wardrobes and storage cabinets blend harmoniously with structural parts.
Additionally, a shared living area on the mezzanine layer and roof terrace are shared facilities. These public spaces promote a sense of community among residents. The first floor and central courtyard are used as designated parking lots for bicycles and motorcycles. Located at the heart of the building is a spiral staircase, which is the main circulating path while also promoting interactions among the residents of the building.
