Next, Ryan Garcia may challenge Isaac “Peterbur” Cruz (WBC) lightweight middleweight champion. Ryan (24-2, 20 KO) hopes to fight WBA 147-pound champion Rolando’Rolly’ Romero wants not his fight, but he’s better at winning.
If Ryan still insists on getting a lot of paydays in the next battle, he wouldn’t be happy with Cruz (28-3-1, 18 KOS). On May 2, his headlines against Rolly for Rolly in New York’s Times Square did not match the $20 million he received.

If Ryan isn’t 100% after losing weight, it’s not the kind of fighter he needs to face. RTAN is more likely to not lose weight and face Cruz without jeopardizing the belt.
For Garcia, it would be meaningless to fight for the WBC’s temporary 140-pound title, because it’s not like he’s going to stay in the department and defend the belt. Even if he wants, he can’t and won’t be eager to compete with WBC 140-pound champion Subriel Matias for the full belt. Cruz should fight.
Some fans believe Ryan has been washed away now after losing to Romero. They believe his victory over Devin Haney in 2024 is now gone.
