In a coastal town famous for its picturesque surfing and polished storefronts, Sacred Research Quietly rewriting the appearance of the fitness community. Their runners at Newport Beach are far more than just weekly jogging, but rather pulsating points of culture, connection and transformation.
Every Monday at 6pm, locals gather at Santo Performance Studio to expand the borders of community health. The route ends at one of Newport’s most iconic beaches, but the destination is only part of the story. What really shows is a deeper sport – an action that binds skateboarding, surfing, jiu-jitsu and fashion together.
This is not your typical fitness group, powered by favorite and filtered selfies. Santo’s approach is refreshing: appear, move, speak, repeat. By combining physical performance with reality interactions, the running department becomes the channel for authenticity in the age of select roles. “When you bridge the world of fashion and performance on a real level… you create magic,” said Creative Director Bear Degidio. It is a philosophy that incorporates every part of the studio identity from the people who guide the culture it attracts. Here, this culture includes everyone from local runners to skaters, jiu-jitsu artists, and performance-conscious creatives, not dopamine spikes.

This sense of fusion is crystallized within the newly opened Santo Performance Studio, a 15,000-square-foot sanctuary that exceeds typical gym expectations. With Jiu-Jitsu led by Master Leo Vieira and Bernardo Tavolaro, and the strength and conditioning under the guidance of Dr. Cody Farah, the space is more like a training ground for champions than a boutique gym. Boxing with coaches is Yogy and Jason Parillo, physical therapy and recovery spaces – all around one idea: The community’s health is best for built-in sports, shoulder-to-shoulder.
