Six-month-old, solo-owned vibe coder Base44 sells to Wix for $80M cash

There is a lot of talk in the initial world on how AI makes individuals so productive that it could cause a generation of “Single unicorns” -One-person companies worth over $ 1 billion.

While an actual solo horn remains a mythical being, Israeli developer Maor Shlomo has provided compelling evidence on Wednesday that the concept may not be impossible.

Shlomo sold his six-month, exclaimed vibrating code starting Base44 to WIX for a $ 80 million deal, WIX announced Wednesday. And the deal was money, WIX confirmed to Techcrunch.

Sure, this was not a billion dollars or close to it. And Shlomo wasn’t really Solo – he had 8 employees, confirmed WIX. They will collectively receive $ 25 million from $ 80 million as a “restraint” bonus. Wix refused to give details of that part of the deal, as long as they have to stay in their work to get full payments.

However, the rapid rise of Base44 and an impressive sales price was the speech of the vibrant coding community.

In its six months as a standalone company, it is said to have grown to 250,000 users, hitting 10,000 users within its first three weeks. According to Shlomo’s posts On X and LinkedIn, the company benefited, generating $ 189,000 in profit in May even after covering high LLM -Token costs, which he also documented publicly.

Base44 spread mostly by mouth as Shlomo, a 31-year-old developer, shared his building trip to Linkedin and Twitter. The project began as a side enterprise, he told Israeli technology news site CTECH.

“Base44 is a banknote experiment – helping everyone, technical or not, build programs without encoding,” he Explained at LinkedIn when he launched it to the public.

It is one of the newer crops of VIBE code products designed for non-programmers. Users enter text promises, and the platform builds complete applications, with database, storage, authentication, analysis and integration. It also supports email, texture and maps, with a roadmap for more corporate grade security support.

Base44 is not unique in this area. Other vibrant coders like Adaptive computer handle similar infrastructure work. But the rapid rise of Base44 amazed the same.

Shlomo has already been known in the Israeli starting community by its previous startup, the startup of Insight Partners-backed data analytics Spear. His brother is also a co -founder of AI -Security Start, Token Security, which recently raised $ 20 million led by remarkable capital (formerly GGV capital) and a pile of Israeli Technic angels.

He quickly obtained partnership agreements for BASE44 with large Israeli technology companies such as Etoro and Similaweb.

After posting about his decision to use Antropy’s Claude LLM with AWS instead of Openai-Best Modes due to cost-yielding AMAZZ. Shlomo documented.

“Crazy F *** in a trip so far,” Shlomo posted in LinkedIn when announced the news of the acquisition. Despite the growth and the profits-or really because of this-he has sold his still-exploding company because “the scale and volume we need is not something we can organically grow … If we could get so far organically, get started, I’m excited to see our new rhythm now that we have all the resources”, ” He wrote.

For his part, Wix picked up a tentative, rapidly growing, local vibrant coding platform for a relative song because of its youth. Openai paid $ 3 billion for Windsurf, which was funded in 2021.

WIX of course offers no code website building that looks professionally designed. Adding a profitable LLM vibrant coding product to its offers is a logical move.

Slomo could not be immediately reached for further comment.
