D-Mich. Senator Elissa Slotkin advised New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani represents the “new generation” of leaders young Democrats are looking for.

New York Democrats say mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani is “too extreme to lead”
“I think this is an existing problem in our time, a shrinking middle class, and it’s a young person who feels like they’re doing everything right and they don’t have the chance to have their parents, and they’re frustrated by that.”
“Then the second thing is they want to see A new generation of leadership. I mean, I’m 49 years old, so I’m older than many of the youngest voters, and I’m like a spring chicken in the Senate. Therefore, they do not see the elected leadership. ” she added.
Tsirkin also asked why the highlight of the cost of living is why Mamdani won such an amazing victory in New York.
“Yes,” Slotkin agreed. “I’m very publicly saying I don’t say that – I’ll never be called a New York City political expert, but two messages are like flashing red lights. How do you miss them? People are still very focused on Living expenses And how they can’t succeed. Still an inspiring question, and then second, they hope for a new generation of leadership. ”

“I may not agree with many of the things Mr Mamdani has raised, but it’s hard to miss the message of this election, which I think is very similar to our November election,” she added. “The cost of living remains the biggest problem for the people I’m talking to.”
