The Brooklyn Bridge in a pure white t-shirt has a bold graffiti-style graphics and paired with the message “protecting the people, not the boundaries” with the message “protecting the people, not the boundaries” in. The back lists all the participating brands to the cause.
In a press release, the brand described the T-shirt as more than just a piece of clothing, but a collective statement – advocating for newcomers’ dignity, rights and security, and the long-standing immigrant community in New York. Under its mission, 100% of the proceeds will benefit the Safe Pass program, a nonprofit that provides free legal representation for immigrant youth navigation deportation procedures.
Although the recent ICE raids have focused on the Los Angeles area, Awake NY further stressed that fear and instability are the daily reality for many immigrant families across the country. Through this release, the brand and its partners aim to highlight the vulnerability of these communities while respecting their important role in shaping the culture and economic structure of the city.
