this Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office Firefighters reportedly caught fire at Canfield Mountain north of Coeur d’Alene at about 1:30 p.m., about half an hour later.
In the audio on the scene, a firefighter said there was an “emergency” and “an active shooter on the fire.”
“We need to enforce the law right here immediately,” the firefighter told a dispatcher.
“We have another Coeur d’Alene Firefighter…We have two unresponsive battalion heads, multiple gunshot wounds, two Coeur d’Alenes fell down…I was nailed,” the caller continued.
The caller also said the fire “was intentionally attracted us.”
“For me, this fire was intended to attract us,” the caller said.

Officials have not confirmed whether he died of suicide or was injured during communication with authorities.

Idaho Gov. Brad Little condemned the incident as a “outrageous direct attack on our brave firefighters” and pledged support for the investigation statewide.
“They answered the call to protect others and pay the final price,” Little said.

The motivation behind Reoy’s actions is unclear, and federal agencies, including the FBI, are assisting local authorities in their investigation.
