Temple Square’s Tabernacle Choir performs the long-term episode of episode 5,000 Mormon Music Program On Sunday, a huge milestone that began nearly 100 years ago.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints reported in a statement with Fox News’ digital numbers that “Music and Spoken” was conducted at the Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. More than 11,500 people attended the meeting.
The plan began on July 15, 1929, a few months after the Great Depression began.
LDS Church says “Music and Speaking” is the longest play of its kind. More than 6 million people listen to the radio every week.
Choir volunteer Heidi Swinton noted in a press release that the program suffered multiple disasters over the years, including the Great Depression and 2019 Coronavirus Pandemic.

“I don’t remember life without ‘music and spoken language,” the leader recalled.
“I was born in 1924…I remember, as a little boy, I listened to Sunday’s radio.”
