WBO light middleweight champion Teofimo Lopez minimizes his mandatory Arnold Barboza Jr. threats, seeing him as merely a mere one “Step Stone” Even bigger things in his career were in battle at Times Square, New York on May 2.
Teo (21-1, 13 KO) doesn’t want to admit that Barboza (32-0, 11 KOS) is the biggest threat to him since his battle with Vasily Lomachenko in 2020.
Although Lopez was later defeated by George Kambosos Jr. in 2021 and arguably lost to Sandor Martin and Jamaine Ortiz, he should have won these battles easily. The judges gave Lopez a gift to Jamaine and Sandor, but his gift was good.
Barboza Jr.
“Step Stone”
“It was the biggest fight in his life, and it was just another stepping stone in my career, and we did it.” Top ranking boxingspeaking of his WBO mandatory Arnold Barboza Jr. “Put him in front of me, I always want to beat him.”
“We will show everyone on May 2, why we are facts and why we are myths. I’m looking forward to what Arnold Barboza wants to bring to the table, but I promise you will definitely be with me when things are very different,” Teofimo said.
Something made Teofimo feel that he could walk on the water right now, I don’t know what. Is this his last fight with Steve Claggett? Hope Lopez realizes that the top ranking is a soft job after he struggles with Jamaine Ortiz. After what he looked like in that battle, he needed a confidence booster.
Barboza looks unparalleled now, and Teofimo will do her best to win the battle. In JR’s last two battles, he defeated Jack Catterall and Jose Ramirez. Any of these guys have a great chance to beat Lopez.
