Is Shakur’s decision unparalleled now?
If Shakur (24-0, 11 KOS) is Teofimo’s best practice, it’s understandable why he is heading in this direction. But he needs to be warned in advance. Stevenson won’t fight him the way he did to William Zepeda. He will ride a bike and fight like he would against Edwin de Los Santos in 2023, making it nearly impossible for him to land anything other than.
Through the way the judge scored into Shakur-Zepeda’s battle, Lopez needed to think carefully about whether it was worth fighting him. The judges dirty Zepeda, with no honors in almost every round of the battle outside Shakur.
They fought as if it was Stevenson’s blowout victory, and even brought him an early round in a fight against the ropes. This battle shows that Shakur is now treated at the elite level of fighters we see like Canelo Alvarez, where the judge scores for him, and he favors his support.
The judge may not make a decision unless Teofimo eliminates Stevenson. I can’t see it happening. Although his imitation is boring Mayweather style in the early 2000s Fighting style, Shakur is now an A-class fighter and it is impossible to defeat him by a decision.
