Terence Crawford said he would not gain people’s credibility if he succeeded in defeating Canelo Alvarez on September 13. Crawford predicts that fans and media will find reasons to win against the 2023 victory over Errol Spence Jr.
Canelo’s Fall
Fans have already said Canelo (63-2-2, 39 KO) is declining, indicating his recent performance against William Scull is a sign of a shooter.
They pointed out that Canelo looked slow and didn’t look like the fighter he defeated Gennadiy Golovkin seven years ago in 2018. From a few years ago, he didn’t look like the best against Islam Medrimov last August.
Crawford predicts fan firing
“The same thing happened to Spence,” Crawford said. Fighthype When asked if he thought he would be honored for beating Canelo for beating fans.
If Crawford beat Canelo, fans will win because he caught him at the right time of his long 20-year career. He has been fighting many hard battles with powerful opposition parties that are much better than the limited warriors on Crawford’s 41-0 resume.
If Crawford is going to beat fighters like David Benavidez, Dmitry Bivol, Artur Beterbiev and David Morrell, he will win fans honors.
Crawford’s future: retirement or a big salary?
“I don’t know. We’ll see it,” Crawford said when asked if Canelo would retire after the battle.
Whether Crawford retires will depend on how he performs against Canelo and whether Turki Alalshikh will continue to provide him with huge sums of money. Crawford reportedly made $1-2 million in a fight with Israil Madrimov last August.
For the title of Netflix against Alvarez on September 13, Terence is expected to receive a minimum wallet of $50 million.
So if Alashikh continues to pay Crawford this money to fight others, he will stick with it indefinitely until he no longer provides this dough. If Turki is beaten, or the incident involving him is poor, he may lose interest in Crawford.
Mayweather Records are not the focus of Crawford
“He doesn’t think I’m going to show him something new he’s never seen before.”
Understandably, Crawford had no interest in insisting on trying to break Floyd Mayweather Jr’s 50-0 record.
Terence focused on participating in only the highest battles and fighting only every year, so he needed to fight another eight years until he was 45 years old to break Floyd’s record.
Huge payment
The bigger problem with Crawford is that he will expect him to fight the increasingly strong opposition than Canelo (such as Dmitry Bivol, David Benavidez or Artur Beterbiev) and continue to earn his big salary from the Saudis.
Initially, Crawford will be defeated, such as Hamzah Sheeraz, Chris Eubank Jr. or Edgar Berlanga. But if he gets rid of those flawed fighters, he will have to win big payments against Sharks, Benavides, Beveyer and Betbiff.
