Your guide to what Trump’s second term for Washington, business and world means
Great Britain, France and Germany are to have talks with the Iranian Foreign Minister on Friday to avert an escalation of conflicts in the Middle East and a possible US intervention.
The talks in Geneva, which are to be visited by the outside ministers of the three European countries, come in the shadows of the warnings of US President Donald Trump that he could join the offensive of Israel against Iran.
“Negotiations have been dealt with better than through conflicts … The risk of escalation in the region is obvious,” said British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starrer on Thursday.
He added that the United Kingdom recognized “completely” Israel’s right to self -defense, “but the principle is that we have to de -escalate”.
The European capitals have made emergency plans for the United States that entered into the conflict, and the tensions have raised because Trump publicly recognized on Thursday that he was “May” to war.
The British government confirmed that David Lammy, British Foreign Minister, would take part in the talks in Geneva, after he had talks in Washington on Thursday with Marco Rubio, his US office colleague.

The meeting in Geneva with the Iranian Abbas Araghchi is a revival of the “E3” format, under which Great Britain, France and Germany-The European Signator of a Nuclear Agreement by Tehran from 2015 with the world powers will be resolved with the west.
The aim of the meeting would be to reconcile a framework for the restart of monitoring the Iranian nuclear program, but granted unrestricted access to institutions with international monitors. Another problem on the table will be whether Iran would be willing to undertake to reduce its ballistic rocket stock.
A crisis on the Iranian nuclear program broke out after Trump was withdrawn from the agreement on one side in 2018. Tehran reacted with the expansion of his nuclear activities and has enriched uranium to levels near weapon quality.
The Trump administration held five rounds of indirect conversations with Iran before the diplomatic process was introduced on Friday – days before a sixth round of negotiations.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who spoke out against the diplomatic efforts – said he had initiated the war to prevent the development of nuclear weapons.
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Araghchi will meet colleagues from Great Britain, France and Germany, the first high -ranking personal diplomacy with Tehran since Israel since Israel started his attack on Iran.

The French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot told journalists on Thursday: “We have expressed our willingness to attend negotiations that aim to secure a permanent rollback from his nuclear program and his ballistic rocket program.”
He said: “Today, the negotiation remains the only way to achieve a permanent rollback from the nuclear and ballistic rocket program of the Iranian rocket … Therefore we are calling for a return to negotiations.”
The E3, which was strongly involved in efforts with the bidges administration to revive the 2015 agreement, had largely been pushed to the edge by Trump when he tried to put Iran under pressure for a new deal.
