In the 1970s and 1980s, Jim Abrahamams, David Zuquer, and Jerry Zucker pioneered a distinctive comedy style and declared anybody mentioned by anyone who smiles more. Let’s try it now. Plane! I see your lips curl.
Until this week, when I saw the new version of The naked gunI say the style is impossible to duplicate. But this film, made with no help from zuckers (who offer but rejected), do it.
With apologies for 33 ⅓the 2025 Naked gun is the best Naked gun movies since Naked gun 2. It can still be the second one when Leslie Nielsen is still alive and the movie’s lead.
However, we get Liam Neeson as Frank Drebbin Jr it is an inspired choice. Nielsen began his career as a dramatic performer, and the genius of his comedic work was his way of playing all that fatal and straight. You don’t need a comedian to duplicate that; You need a serious actor, a serious actor ready to put in fearless situations.
Liam fills the good role. No one can be top leslie, but she is a good second best. She has real chemistry with co-star pam anderson, happy returned to the screen after a mini retirement.
I don’t waste your design time, because who cares. That’s not the point of these movies. In view of The naked gunThe design is for non-authors who cannot make jokes. What are things if or not The naked gun Funny, and hell yes, it is.
The genius of past police entries is the hard work they work to laugh. As with Police Squad TV series and Leslie Nielsen movies, every second of this new Naked gun wrapped in jokes. There isn’t a piece of dialogue or a movie frame that is not the best attempt to be funny. Most of the time, it succeeds.
Many jokes of many types of guys are guaranteed unless you’re 5% of people who don’t feel humor (yes, that’s a real statistic). Maybe you’ll laugh almost everything. That’s good.
Here is my favorite star: Frank read a criminal sheet and said, “This is how you do 25 years for human laughter.” Insert dramatic liam neeson stop here. “It can be a hell of a joke.”
The naked gun a hell of a joke. This is the funniest movie of the decade. Go a funny.
