Stephen King is my favorite author. It’s always a great time to be a fan of his works and also a giant dorks movie because the king’s stories continue to have studio adaptations.
And this year looks like a perfect standout for his filmography. I Favorite movie of the year The Osgood Perkins’ is up to date The monkeya wild interpretation of the king’s short story to the same name. We also got the movies at 2025 based on two of my all-favorite novels king (written under his pseudonym Richard Bachman), The long walk and The running man.
And if the trailers of films are faithful representations of their final products, it is a year of flag for us regular readers.
Which is why notifying a new film adaptation to The stand is why the most attractive and funniest Stephen King Movie news that can happen.

Doug Stor Director reveals for a new studio’s film matching and landmark novel in Stephen King and Landmark The stand. When it was recently announced, it was instant for all the reasons I think of why it was a bad idea as opposed to a good one.
First, make The stand In a movie then raises red flags for fans. The story is a sprawling epic that requires a lot of time to tell its story. Trying to change most of the character’s job in the novel and the planning of a found found fluner HENGTH format is an intimidating and preventive effort. Although they divide the film into two parts (which I expect), this is just the wrong format for a story that depends on many character interactions for a long time.
Does not mention that Doug Liman’s participation is also intense when part of potential quality. That is not the odd inevitable unavoidable director of unavoidable, but I will argue that he has passed on his main. His last deserved Flick was over a decade ago and Edge of tomorrowDirection direction is not what makes a pleasant cult favorite. And I think all collectively throw Chaos walking and Home into a memory hole, which I don’t argue.
Allow new children to play
See, The stand A strange story and surely worth a change to do justice. In fact, 1994 ministry may be of age but it is completely admirable to do the perfect best delivery of a faithful adaptation. And even if we seem (and correct) leaving 2020 limited series, sure The stand There are few bites of cinematic apple.
Part of what makes this year exciting to king’s fans see stories without getting a right shake before. The long walk a film trying to be done in decades. The monkey A short story that never found the Silver screen light before now (no, I didn’t recognize The Gift of the Devil / Merlin’s Shop of Mystical Wonders). Yes, The running man Made in an arnold car and I love the brand of antunbomba charm, but it is far from the true story of the novel. Edgar Wright’s film gives the bachman novel first shot correctly represented and translated into a movie.
Drop the bomb with “we do The stand! … again! “Between a year with many freshly matching Stephen King a chance without reading the room. The woman who loves Tom Gordon? EcStatic! Laika announced a stop-motion side of The dragon eyes? It’s annoying! There are still so many stories of the king who never go to the screen, so taking another riff on The stand a betrayal of potential projects.

If Doug Liman’s The stand The ends happened, I sincerely hope I’m wrong about it. I wish it was the best adaptation and very well done misery APPEARANCE Linnnmower Man 2: Distance to cyberspace. I can’t get my hopes but I’ll let the possibility it’s an eligible third riff in the book.
It may be an unpopular opinion, but The stand Indeed one of the king’s stories I think is best at home in its original medium. This is not something I think clearly sinsematic. It is not that it cannot be but it is a poisonous thread through the written word on the page.
They will make The stand No matter what I write on the internet so I can only pray it is interesting. But I will change here refreshing the news to find out if I can expect the movie Stephen I haven’t seen before.
