Russian authorities say three people were killed after Ukraine’s attack on a factory in Izvsk city, and a factory more than 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) from the border attacked the hospital.
The governor of Udmurtia Aleksandr Bechalov said that among the ten injured were seriously injured, adding that he introduced the attack to President Vladimir Putin.
The drone reportedly targeted the Kubol Mechanical and Electrical Factory, a military plant that is said to produce surface-to-air missile systems and radar stations.
According to Ukrainian media, the factory also specializes in producing OSA air defense systems and has developed drones.
A Ukrainian official confirmed that two long-range drones operated by the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) hit the Kubol factory from about 1,300 kilometers (807 miles).
Sources reported in Ukrainian media: “Each special operation like this reduces the enemy’s offensive potential, destroys the military production chain and proves that even in the rear of Russia, there is no safe military infrastructure.”
Video posted on social media and verified by the BBC showed an explosion on the roof of the building, and a large plate of black smoke rose on the factory-style chimney.
Russia’s civil aviation regulator Rosaviatsia imposed restrictions on the movement of Izhevsk airports and then raised them for several hours later.
This is the second Ukrainian drone attack on the Kubol plant since November – although the strike did not result in any casualties.
Moscow continues to attack in Ukraine. Over the weekend, Russia launched a record 537 drones and missiles in various places across the country, including Kiev and the western city of Lviv.
On Monday, Ukrainian Volodymyr Zelensky’s death awarded Ukrainian heroes to Colonel Maksym Ustymenko, F-16 pilot, who was killed while trying to repel the air strike.
On the battlefield Russia’s progress in Sumi region seems to have stalledMoscow appears to be targeting the eastern dnipropetrovsk region. Unconfirmed reports from Russian media show that Moscow troops control the first village in the region.
The two rounds of talks aim to agree to a ceasefire between Kyiv and Moscow.
Last week, President Putin said Russia was ready to hold new peace talks, even though he said Russia and Ukraine’s peace proposals were “absolutely contradictory.”
Zelensky once again expressed doubts about Putin’s intentions on Monday. “Putin has been starting diplomacy for almost half a year … throughout the war,” the Ukrainian leader said.
“Russia has not changed its plans and is not looking for a way out of this war. Instead, they are preparing for new actions, including on the territory of European countries.”
Keith Kellogg, senior U.S. envoy to Ukraine and Russia, wrote on X on Monday that Russia cannot “continue to stand still” when it comes to Ukraine’s civilian targets.
Moscow quickly pushed back, saying it wasn’t too “interested in stagnating anything” and thanked the United States for its support.
