President Donald Trump has delayed a ban on Chinese-owned social media platforms until April 5, when Tiktok was once again acquired in the US app stores of Apple and Google.
The popular app is used by more than 170 million U.S. users and briefly turned black in the U.S. last month as the ban deadline approaches.
Trump then signed an executive order granting Tiktok a 75-day extension to comply with a law that prohibits the app from selling the app.
Tiktok did not immediately respond to a request for comment from BBC News.
According to Bloomberg, Bloomberg first reported that Tiktok returned to the U.S. app store and its decision to restore its usability was to receive Trump at Apple and Google, according to Bloomberg. After the government’s assurance, they will not assume any responsibility and the ban has not been implemented.
The ban was passed in Congress by a bipartisan vote, with former President Joe Biden signing the law. It ordered the Chinese owner of Tiktok, the barbarians, to sell the American version of the platform to neutral parties to avoid a complete ban.
