Rep. Ritchie Torres, DN.Y., blows up Democratic New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani Monday did not condemn the slogan, “Globalization uprising.”
In the “CNN News Center” section, Democratic politicians argue that for many Jews, the call for “uprising” is a threat of violence to the community and condemns Mamdani’s refusal to condemn the language directly.
“This is offensive. Every elected official should condemn it,” Torres told CNN host John Berman.

Mamdani, a self-proclaimed democratic socialist and practicing Muslim, recently won a crowded Democratic primary for New York City’s mayoral candidate, beating former Governor Andrew Cuomo. Mamdani has been a controversial lightning rod since his victory as he proposes economic policy and evades condemnation of anti-Israel slogans.
On NBC’s “Meet the Media” Sunday, host Kristen Welker asked Mamdani if it was not Will condemn The phrase “globalization uprising”. During the interview, politicians avoided multiple direct condemnations.
“You condemn this sentence, ‘Globalization uprising’?” Welk asked.
“That’s not the language I use,” Mandani replied. “The language I use and the language I will continue to use to lead the city, it clearly states my intentions, which are based on belief in universal human rights.”

When asked again, he said: “I don’t believe the role of the mayor is the police speaking.”
Elsewhere, candidates argued that condemning the sentence put him “into a place similar to the president, who is seeking to do these things, put people in jail for writing columns, and put them in jail for protests.”
When asked about his answer from Mamdani on Sunday, Torres did not back down, thinking that the potential mayor who condemns such remarks is essential, rather than the level of sending people to prison in some speeches.
“I strongly disagree. No one advocates imprisonment. I mean, whether it is anti-Semitism or Islamophobia, every elected official has an obligation to condemn hatred.”

Torres added: “The second uprising refers to terrorist attacks, suicide bomb attacks and violent stabbings and stab wounds that killed more than a thousand Israelis and Jews.
Other Democratic figures have called on Mamdani to condemn the statement in recent days. MSNBC host Pastor Al Sharpton called on him to do so on Monday’s MSNBC panel.
Senator Christine Gillibrand (DN.Y.) Do the same.
She said on the “Brian Lehrer Show” last week: “He should condemn this.”
House Minority Leader on Sunday in ABC’s “This Week” Hakeem Jeffries, DN.Y.said: “Training by example with the ‘globalization uprising’ is not an acceptable phrase. He will have to clarify his position on it as he moves forward.”

Mamdani’s team has not answered a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
