Trump announces 25% tariffs on Japan, South Korea’s first trade letter

The U.S. will impose a 25% blanket tariff on imports from Japan and South Korea starting August 1, President Donald Trump Revealed on Monday.

Both letters say the 25% tariff is separate from other department-specific responsibilities in key product categories.

The letters also state that “the transfer of goods to evade higher tariffs will be subject to higher tariffs.” In this case, the implementation in this case appears to refer to the transfer of goods to the temporary country before the final shipment in order to violate tariffs.
