president Donald Trump On Saturday night, an order was signed to respond to protests over federal immigration protests in Los Angeles to deploy 2,000 National Guard members, the White House said.
“In recent days, violent mobs have attacked Ice Road officers and federal law enforcement officers in basic deportation operations in Los Angeles, California,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement.
Trump’s orders emerged in the ongoing conflict between federal immigration agents and protesters.
Leavitt told NBC News that Trump would federalize a portion of the California National Guard or report to Gov. Gavin Newsom. The President has the right to do so in limited circumstances.
Meanwhile, Trump competed in the Ultimate Battle Championship at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Saturday night
Vice President JD Vance called the protesters “insurrectors” in a tweet.
“Insurgents are attacking immigration law enforcement, and half of the U.S. political leaders decide that border enforcement is evil,” Vance wrote on X.
