Trump says he won’t change Washington Red Man name to commander

If decided by the President Donald TrumpWashington’s football team will never change its name.

The NFL team is currently Commander of Washingtonbut the old name, Redskin, is what Trump said, and he would keep it as if he had the organization.

“Well, do you want me to make a controversial statement?” Trump told reporters in Morristown, New Jersey on Sunday. “I won’t change the name. But that’s theirs – this doesn’t have the same ring for me.”

Commander’s boss Josh Harris told Bret Baier “Special Report” In April, the Reds’ names won’t be back despite his plan to bring the team back to Washington, D.C. at the scene in the old RFK Stadium.

“The commander’s name is actually an amazing element in our buildings,” Harris said. “So some types of players are tough, love football, and are delegating commanders, for example, Jayden (Daniels) is the commander, and their ranking is.

“And, you know, the business people have entered it, obviously, we’re in the military city here. There are more military people than anywhere else, so we kind of move forward in the name of the commander and get excited about it, not looking back.”

While he may not have changed his name, Trump believes that any winning team will stick with it anyway. That’s exactly what Washington did last season, under new quarterback Jayden Daniels, making it to the NFC Championship for the first time in nearly three decades.

“But, you know, winning can make everything sound good,” Trump continued. “So if they win, the sudden commander sounds good. But I won’t change the name.”

As far as the new stadium is concerned, political divisions revolve around a $3.8 billion project. Less than two months after the stadium deal was reached, Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser said the Washington, D.C. Council approved the latest budget Front desk sports.

“If the Council deprives the transaction terms or the dollar of the budget from the budget, it will kill our agreement with the commander,” Bowser said last month.

Before commenting, reporters asked Trump whether he might be involved in the deal or not.

“Okay, let’s see what happens,” he replied. “I’ve been watching this deal and I don’t blame them. It’s a very important property, it’s a great property. So, we’ll see. If I can help them, I’ll do it.

“Eventually, we controlled that. The federal government finally controlled it, so we’d see what happened. I saw the plan, I saw the stadium. The owner was a very, very successful and very good guy. I know he kind of knows him. I can be there. I can tell you.

Washington’s name was changed to Commander stemmed from widespread criticism of the Redskins’ offensive against Native Americans.

The team eventually abandoned the name and called itself the “Washington Football Team” after protests by George Floyd until the major brand emerged in 2022.

There is still a large contingent that the name and logo should return to historic franchise, including Senator Steve Danes (R-Mont).

“We had a good discussion with the NFL and the Commander. Future negotiations are sincere and this will bring the logo to use again. Perhaps the income will receive a foundation that can help Native Americans in sports and more. We have made good progress and based on good faith negotiations, I made the decision to support this bill on the committee yesterday.”

Harris told Baier that he hopes construction will begin on site in 2027 and opening day will have a 2030 goal.
