On board the Air Force One (Reuters)-US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that Jordan and Egypt should pick up more Palestinians from Gaza, where Israel’s military attack causes a terrible humanitarian situation and killed tens of thousands.
When asked whether this was a temporary or long -term proposal, Trump said: “Could be both.”
Washington said last year that it was against the violent expulsion of Palestinians. Human rights groups and humanitarian organizations have been concerned about the situation in Gaza for months, since the war drove almost the entire population and led to a hunger crisis.
Washington was also criticized for his support from Israel, but continued to support his allies and said that it helps Israel to help defense against Iran -supported militant groups such as Hamas in the Gaza Strip, the Hisbollah in Lebanon and the Houthis in Yemen.
“I said to him, I would love it if you take up more, because I’m looking at the entire Gaza strip and it’s a chaos, it’s a real chaos. I want him to pick up people, ”said Trump, who did the office on January 20, said about his call on Saturday with Jordania’s king Abdullah.
“I want Egypt to accept people,” Trump told reporters and added that he would speak to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Sunday.
“You speak of one and a half million people and we simply clear the whole thing,” said Trump.
The population in the Palestinian enclave was around 2.3 million before the start of the Israel Gaza War.
Gaza is a “demolition location”
“It is literally a demolition point, almost everything is torn down and people die there, so I would rather deal with some of the Arab nations and build apartments in another place where they may be able to live in peace for a change”, said Trump said.
The most recent bloodshed in decades of Israeli-Palestinian conflict was triggered on October 7, 2023 when Palestinian Hamas fighters attacked Israel, according to Israeli information about 1,200 people and took around 250 hostages.
According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, the subsequent military attack on Gaza killed more than 47,000 people and led to accusations for genocide and war crimes that Israel denies.
A week ago a ceasefire came into force, which led to the release of some of the Israeli hostages captured by the Hamas in an exchange against Palestinian prisoners captured by Israel.
