President Donald Trump suggested that the Palestinian people could be resettled in other countries, while the United States took over Gaza to remove unexploded bombs, rebuild and economically rebuild the territory.
He spoke to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at a joint White House press conference, who said Trump’s ideas were “worthy of attention.”
The Gaza Strip is surrounded by Israel, Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea. On October 7, 2023, Hamas attacked Israel from Gaza, killing about 1,200 people and hijacking more than 250 hostages.
According to the Hamas Party Health Ministry, this triggered an Israeli military offensive, with 47,400 people killed.
