Donald Trump’s second state visit to Great Britain will take place from September 17th to 19th, Buckingham Palace has announced in a program that probably largely protects the US President from public and political protest.
Trump is organized by King Charles and Queen Camilla in Windsor Castle, just outside of London and outside the potentially enemy crowds, which would have remained easier in the center of the capital in Buckingham Palace, which is renovated.
During his visit, the US President will not appeal to both parliamentary homes and avoid the possibility of political protests in Westminster. Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan are among those who have dealt with MPs and colleagues.
The House of Commons will not be sitting during his visit, since it will be a break for the British Political Party conference, which means that such an address was not possible. Some Labor MPs and colleagues said that Trump should not be invited to give a speech in Westminster.
Trump becomes the first US President to conduct two state visits. During his previous visit in 2019, the then spokesman for the Common John Bercow made it clear that he would not be welcome to address the parliament. Bercow had said that an address was “not an automatic right, it is a well -deserved honor”.
Lord Kim Darroch, the British ambassador to Washington at the time of Trump’s last visit, said that the US President’s team is not interested in the fact that he addressed the parliament during lengthy discussions about the agreements for the first state visit.
The former ambassador said that Trump’s team was warned of the possibility of demonstrations and was informed of the intention of Buckingham Palace and Downing Street to have a close program with limited interaction with the British public.
“They were pretty satisfied with it,” said Darroch of the Financial Times. “You didn’t say that he wanted to meet his revered British public.
“The last time the white house was careful about the visit. They were always sensitive to the view of embarrassment, enemy crowds or a low participation. We were concerned about demonstrators with their huge, trump -shaped balloon.”
Trump will visit a state banquet in Windsor Castle and have a starring talks during the visit with Prime Minister Sir Keir, people said on the trip. Buckingham Palace said First Lady Melania Trump would also take part.
Trump presented a letter from the king, who extended a state visit during the meeting of the Prime Minister in February with the US President in the White House. Trump’s love for the Great Britain’s royal family is considered an important diplomatic capital in London.
When the couple was sitting next to each other in the Oval Office, Starrer gave the President the personal invitation and later said: “This is really historical and unprecedented”. Trump said it was a “great, great honor” and added “Windsor – that really something”.
The US President is expected to travel to Scotland in the next few weeks, where he has several golf courses with a “half-private visit”, but an earlier plan for him to meet King Charles on this trip has not come about.
In his letter to Trump, the king had proposed that he and the president could first hit the much larger state visit to the house in Balmoral or Dumfries in Scotland.
However, the royal officials have announced that there were logistical challenges related to an informal visit, with complexity both in the diaries of the king and in Trump.
The White House did not immediately answer a request for comments.
