Police said Saturday that the two were charged with the death of a stabbing death by a soldier in Fort Campbell, Tennessee last year, with one of the suspects being the victim’s husband.
According to an autopsy report from the Montgomery County Medical Examiner’s Office, the victim, Katia Dueñas Guilar, a private top-notch U.S. Army, suffered 68 stab wounds in her neck and upper body. Her body was found in her home Clarksville, Tennesseein May.
Sofia Rodas, 35, was charged with first-degree murder and tampered with evidence of Aguilar’s death, the Clarksville Police Department said in a press release.

Aguilar’s husband, Reynaldo Salinas Cruz, 40, is accused of tampering with evidence of his wife’s death.
Both suspects were held on unrelated federal charges before being extradited to Clarksville on Friday. Montgomery County Jailaccording to police.
The medical examiner ruled that the cause of death was a homicide caused by a sharp neck injury.

Police said the case remains an open and active investigation.
“The successful progress of the case highlights a critical partnership between local law enforcement and military authorities to address serious crimes that affect service personnel and their families,” the police said in a press release.
