Kansas City Royal Family Host the NL Western Conference leading Dodgers. Ohtani has the longest outing this season in Kansas City. Ottani hit only once in two innings when the Dodgers gave up Saturday’s game against the Royals.

He only played one inning in the last game of the season as he continued to step up his pitching activity after his elbow surgery in 2023.

Ohtani threw one of the 101.7 mph courts from the Kauffman Stadium Mound, the highest speed of any stadium that the two-way star threw in his MLB career.

“It’s really positive to have Shohei throw the ball the way he did in two innings,” said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. “I didn’t know that was 102 (mph). I just saw 100 people, so, no, I didn’t expect it. Now I’m going to keep my fingers crossed and he feels good today.”

Ohtani hit three times when lead hit The Dodgers 9-5 Loss.

The three-time MVP did not pitch last season, and it was his first game for the Dodgers while he recovered from Tommy John’s surgery. In his five seasons with the Los Angeles Angels, he scored 86 starts 38-19, 38-19.

Ohtani made his first strike to all seven batsmen he faced on Saturday and got 27 courts with 20 hits.

“I’m glad I’m able to attack the area,” Ottani said through an interpreter. “I still have to do some small things, but overall, I’m glad.”

He allowed singles to Bobby Witt Jr. in the first, then walked up to Maikel Garcia and threw a 101.7 mph fastball into Vinnie Pasquantino with a 0-2 count, who dropped it into the doubles.

“This is something I don’t think I can do in a real-time BP environment,” Ohtani said. “It’s great to be able to hit this velvet and see my body’s reaction.”

The 30-year-old has been 29 of Los Angeles’ main designated hitters this season.
