The purpose of seeking humanities education is to learn the great texts and ideas that have aroused the soul of civilization since ancient times. It is a discipline that teaches a reverence for nuance and a lofty appreciation for history and intellectual humility. However, you won’t know from the keynote address at UCLA’s recent humanities start ceremony.
Caribbean Fragoza took a podium wearing Keffiyeh, proclaiming “From the river to the sea” (a slogan widely recognized known as the call to exterminate Israel and the Jews in it), and offered a lesson in Solypsism and Secret. This abominable message made the audience timid when graduates of Jewish studies and Hebrew were called to the stage.

Fragoza’s speech is not an intellectual nuance, but a rhetoric certificate from the pickets. She recalls an episode where she introduced an art project with the theme of watermelon and introduced the Palestine issue to Palestine using the term “free Palestine”. She raised the child’s understanding of the problem to prove that his moral simplicity is. But what she actually revealed is that kindergarten epistemology makes her pattern animation.

It is said that trained in reasonable disagreements, great ideas and research on virtue ethics, responded with bursts of applause. The same group of people who held illegal camps during college were surrounding the idea that “anti-Semitism” was not anti-Semitism, and they were called on Jewish and Hebrew studies after hearing the term “free Palestine.”
Fragoza was well promoted on her hate message before she got on the podium. The keffiyeh she wears is not a neutral outfit, nor is it some multicultural Kumbaya accessories. After the October 7, 2023 massacre, it has become a Political symbol– One aspect of inseparable from Arab nationalism – After the Arab uprising of 1936-39, it became increasingly popular in popularity. However, when Fragoza arrived, no dean or teacher stopped to ask if graduation was a political outfit.

The speech itself is full of hatred and exaggeration. The Jews knew very well that the ode to “from the river to the sea” was not a poetic abstraction, but a blunt instrument to maximize ambitions, calling for the elimination of the only Jewish state in the world.
When Fragoza tries to subtly compare metaphors Donald Trumpno administrator wants to know that such comments are targeting graduating classes that may include many Trump supporters, which are split or inflammatory.
And, when she declared that the “brown” student, regardless of immigration status, could be expected to be rounded and deported by the state’s discretion, no professor marked it as such a clear scarecrow fallacy. Instead, political exaggeration became the breakup information the university gave to students.
The animated metaphor of Fragoza’s speech is fire. She cites Rodney King’s riots, not a tragedy, or even a cautionary tale, but a righteous man. She affectionately recalled the robbery of “free TV” as if they were the trophy of justice.
It is Become common: Families traveling from loved ones are often bound by such political theaters. Gone are the days of Mary Schmich’s “Wearing Sunscreen” speech, and the graduation speech is intended to celebrate or inspire. UCLA students received delivery soaked in paranoia and publicity. For Jewish students, including some unknown whether Israel’s loved ones survived the recent missile barrage of civilian targeting Iran, it was all original.
Such non-oppositional remarks are not only a failure of etiquette. This is a prosecution against the college itself. This is not an isolated incident either. It was the norm at many graduation ceremonies at UCLA this weekend.
When student leaders read the oath from the School of Public Health, students in the crowd chanted “in Palestine” in calls and responses without condemning. according to Official club for public health social media schoolsan announcement was announced as graduate student to announce “Acab,” abbreviation for “all police are assholes,” “all the ice will eventually melt,” and “the fight for Palestine liberation is anti-disease work.”

During a labor research ceremony at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), a speaker announced that the illegal camps that swept the campus last year were the highlight of his academic career and accused Israel of genocide in Gaza. At the World Arts and Culture graduation ceremony, student speakers dressed a Keffiyeh, who was also accused of genocide in Israel and claimed to have failed her original major and won applause instead of care.
In each case, the speech was approved by the UCLA administrator or assisted by someone who refused to intervene when it was refused.

UCLA begins to enter the ideological theater’s descendants not only are embarrassing. This is a wake-up call. If the college is to be redeemed, it will require students, faculty, alumni and citizens to insist that education is an act of promotion rather than indoctrination. The integrity of the human science and its claim to serve depends on it.
