United Airlines passengers postponed after technical failure to stop flights


United Airlines passengers face delays after the airline temporarily suspended “technical issues” flights at major airports.

The company awarded a stop from the mainline flights departing from the airport, causing problems at airports such as Chicago, Denver, Houston, San Francisco and New Jersey.

The company said Wednesday (02:00 GMT on Thursday) at about 22:00 ET that the flights are no longer rooted, but the disruption is underway.

The airline’s statement read, the airline’s statement said: “Basic technical issues have been resolved and our team is working to restore our normal operations despite the remaining delays we expect.”

According to Flight Trucking Site Flighataare, more than 700 joint flights have been delayed as of EDT 21:00 (02:00 BST).

Flights that are already in the air during ground stops can continue to their destinations.

Regional flights were not affected, but United warned that they could be delayed due to traffic congestion from ground parking.

One passenger, Jessica Jeffers, told CNN that she was trapped on a Denver plane for two hours waiting to go to Newark, New Jersey.

“It’s already rough here,” she said.

Other passengers complained on social media about being stuck on the tarmac for hours while waiting for news.

CBS News, a BBC’s U.S. partner network, reported that the airline sees the incident as preventable delays, meaning it will cover certain fees incurred by passengers.

Transport Secretary Sean Duffy said he had been briefed by Manchester United that the issue “has nothing to do with the broader U.S. air traffic control system.”
