She reportedly sent an email to Vice President JD Vance’s criticism of Denmark, commander of the U.S. military base in Greenland, according to reports.
Colonel Susanna Meyers was removed from his duties at Pituffik Space Base for “losing confidence in leadership.” The U.S. military’s Space Operations Command said Colonel Susanna Meyers was removed from his post as a result of “losing confidence in leadership.”
Last month, Vance criticized Denmark on a trip to the Arctic Island – Greenland is a territory – because it doesn’t spend more money on the security of the region, claiming that it wasn’t “good” for Greenlanders.
The alleged email posted by the U.S. military news website told personnel that Vance’s comments “do not reflect” on the base.
After the trip, on March 31, Colonel Meyers reportedly wrote: “I don’t think I know about current politics, but what I know is that the concerns of the U.S. government discussed by Vice President Vance on Friday do not reflect the Pituffak space base.”
Military com- Posted an email – Says, these contents have been confirmed by the U.S. space forces for their accuracy.
Pentagon chief spokesman Sean Parnell seems to confirm that this is the reason for her dismissal, linked to the article from the Military (Morials.com) in a post on X, writing: “The action (that action) undermines the command chain or subverts the president’s (Donald Trump) agenda will not be tolerated by the Department of Defense.”
Space Force announced Colonel Meyers’ statement Thursday that Colonel Sean Lee was replacing her.
It added: “Commanders are expected to adhere to the highest standards of conduct, especially with regard to the nonpartisan who perform their duties.”
During the whirlwind tour, Vance also reiterated Trump’s desire to annex Greenland for security reasons.
Since the visit of the U.S. delegation, Greenland and Denmark have shown a unified front against the United States’ annexation of the Danish autonomous territory.
Earlier this month, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen’s official visit was alongside Greenland-style peer Jens-Frederik Nielsen and his predecessor Mute Egede.
Frederiksen spoke directly to Trump while speaking to reporters and told him: “You can’t annex other countries.”
She added that Denmark is strengthening its military presence in the Arctic and has worked closer with the United States in defending the region.
Greenland is the largest island in the world, under the control of Denmark for about 300 years.
Polls show that the vast majority of Greenlanders want independence from Denmark – but don’t want to be part of the United States.
Greenland has the right to hold an independence referendum since 2009, although in recent years some political parties have begun to work hard.
