Valerie Bertinelli Reflecting on the days she worked with her TV idol.
In a clip of the “Drew Barrymore Show” shared earlier this week, Bertinelli can be seen answering audience questions. When a fan asked what the best advice she received was, she developed a former co-star.
“The best advice is Betty White,” Betty White said. “She really taught me about gratitude. I thought I was grateful. She was just alive, breathing gratitude, every second of her life, every moment I was with her.”
She went on to say that White was “grateful for good, bad, ugly, all of that,” and Outlook helped her deal with “the things that have really challenged over the past five years,” saying, “I’m grateful for the hard stuff.”

“It sucks, and I wish I didn’t have to go through it, but I don’t have other ways to learn better,” Bettinelli continued. “And I think the mistakes purposefully help us learn what we don’t do.”
She concluded: “So, be grateful. Every moment, I have to thank. Even hard things. Especially hard things. That’s Betty White.”

Bertinelli and White appeared on each other on the hit show”It’s hot in Cleveland“From 2010 to 2015, in six seasons. White played Elka Ostrovsky, the role of senior homeowner Bertinelli and her friends rented a house from friends who decided to move from Los Angeles to Cleveland.
“The best advice is from Betty White. She really taught me about gratitude. I thought I was grateful. She was just alive, breathing grateful, every second, every moment I was with her.”
She also talked about her relationship with White when she appeared on a talk show in June, saying “she was amazing” and calling herself “lucky” to be able to “work with her for five years.”

The actress is very vocal about her recent struggles on social media and often goes to Instagram to share her experiences. In May 2025, she shared with her followers that she had “experienced the most outrageous eight months of my life.”
“It’s not to say that I’m sorry for myself, because I don’t. No one is going to get stuck in grief and heartache. People are working hard all the time. “And I don’t know I’m going to change anything.” I learned more about my strength, weakness, patience, resilience and value. Two months later, Bertinelli went on the social media app and shared her Try to stay awake In her harder times.
“I’ve been going through some very intense, uncomfortable, sad, emotionally incredible feelings in recent days, and I want to drink. I want to be numb. I don’t want to feel it.”

She continued, “But my logical thinking is like, ‘No, you don’t want to do that. You don’t want to be numb. What you know will help you feel better is feeling feeling. But, I can’t cry.”
Although she did not reveal her specific struggle, Break up with her boyfriend 10 months after dating, Mike Goodnough in November 2024.
